Kate with the kids

Kate Harris received her BA from the University of Washington in Political Science and Comparative History of Ideas. She is currently pursuing her MPA at UW’s Evans School of Public Affairs, with focuses in International Development and HIV/AIDS.

Originally from California, she’s slowly growing to love the Seattle rain. Kate spends most of her free time cooking, reading, or playing with her dog. Kate works as the Tusubira Board President.

Why am I involved?

I first traveled to Uganda in 2006, and co-founded Tusubira shortly thereafter. Since then, the organization has grown, and learned what delicate, difficult, and complex the field of international aid truly is. In doing so, we’ve transitioned much of our leadership to our Ugandan Advisory Board and our staff member there, Carol. I am delighted to say that we now function much more on the fundraising side and much less on the decision-making, leaving that to the wonderful community leaders in Uganda that we work with. So I am involved to keep plugging along in the fundraising realm, which I’ve never been much good at, but regardless feel that that is the the best work Tusubira, and I, can do with the resources we’ve been given.
